New Hampshire lawyers were kind enough to render free lawsuit services worth $1 million to the poor people of the state last year but in fact, these lawyers should be receiving $100 per hour. The New Hampshire Bar Association's deputy director and head of pro bono lawyer referral service said that there is no other professional who showed much passion in donating its services to the needy.

The price of attorney fee is at $100 per hour where in fact, lawyers donated $1 million in free legal services to the poor people of New Hampshire last year.

The New Hampshire Bar Association's deputy director of pro bono lawyer referral said that the poor are very fortunate to be the benefactors of the free services rendered by these lawyers because these are the only group of professionals who are willing to do such act. Yet, the public isn't well supplied with the best lawyers to work with.

Pro bono originally is pro bono publico which is a Latin term meaning for the public good. New Hampshire Legal Assistance is definitely doing their task in terms of promoting the pro bono system but it seems that there are still 80 percent of the poor whose needs are not answered. Attorneys can only handle the other 20 percent that remains since these are the most prioritized cases.

If a person is accused of a crime serious enough to mean a possible jail sentence, the state must provide a lawyer if the defendant cannot afford one. County public defender programs are where this kind of process is accomplished.

If a poor individual is facing eviction and has no one else to turn to, then the New Hampshire Legal Assistance which is part of the federal Legal Services Corp. system provides low income Americans with access to legal representation.

The Legal Assistance and the pro bono program extend its help to those who are really poor. If you earn more than 125 percent of the poverty level income, then you're not eligible to avail of the free legal services according to federal guidelines. This amounts to $8,513 for single individuals and $17,438 for a family of four.

As with most institutional programs, it's the working poor who get the short end of the stick. If you find it difficult to afford even if the lawyers? services are offered at a reduced rate, then you have to go for strict pro bono.

In instances where one isn't able to avail of legal aid, it may be more difficult especially in cases of child support because prices can go up. The state has a role in collecting support for lots of people, but it's tremendously understaffed.

One can avail of a good lawyer especially for child support if you offer them a good price. There is a huge difference between being able to have something to eat on the table and having to afford for public assistance.
Having a divorce for many low income people is not an option because they can't afford lawyers. What usually happens is that the couple moves apart and with this, children suffer because there is no support order from the court.

New Hampshire is different because it doesn't provide any legal services to the poor. Instead, they benefit from the support money they receive from Legal Assistance that comes from the federal Legal Services Corp. and the Income on Lawyers Trust Accounts program.

To be able to open a separate bank account under the client's name, the state bar association is responsible for holding money in escrow in a lawyer's own trust account for some period of time.

Those who are deserve to be awarded are given a pro bono service honor roll by the bar association so as to attract more lawyers and law firms to contribute. Even if the bar association continues to do this, there are still some lawyers who do not show up at all. As another form of motivation, the association awards the person who was able to give the most effort in helping the poor.
