There's Nothing That Will Ruin Your Day Like Traffic Tickets In Edmonton
There's nothing more frustrating and exasperating than getting traffic tickets in Edmonton. The strength of these emotions is multiplied exponentially if you didn't even realize that you were speeding when you got the ticket. Trust me. I know from recent experience. It all started a few weeks ago when my father-in-law accidently locked himself out of his truck. Being the independent person that he is, he decided to break a window in order to get into his truck instead of calling for help.
My husband decided to do him a favor by trying to locate a new window for him at a junk yard so that he wouldn't have to purchase a brand new one. We called local junk yards until we found one that said they had a window that would fit in his specific make and model of truck. When my husband went to the junk yard to pick it up, the window was still attached to the truck, so he went ahead and paid for the window saying that he would have his wife pick it up the next day.
Well, the next day after a long day at work I made my way over to the junk yard. I wasn't too excited about having to make the extra trip, especially since I had never driven
in that area before, but luckily when I found my way to my destination the people there knew who I was and gave me the window without any questions.I pulled out of the junk yard's gravel parking lot and when I was less than a block away I saw a police officer parked in another parking lot. It was obvious that it was a speed trap so I followed my natural instinct and hit my brakes, but when I looked at my speedometer I realized that I wasn't going all that fast anyway so I wasn't too worried.
At least I wasn't too worried until the police officer pulled out of the parking lot and turned on his bright colorful lights. I pulled over and politely apologized to the police officer explaining that I had never driven in the area before and didn't realize that I was driving above the speed limit. He explained to me that the speed limit on that road was unusually low considering that it wasn't a residential area, but that if I signed up for a traffic safety class I'd be able to get the ticket off my record.
Personally, I think that if he really felt so bad about the citation, he could have given me a warning. It's not like there aren't plenty of other people in the area who are much more deserving of traffic tickets in Edmonton.
