India, for purposes of Singaporean immigration, is categorized as a Level 1 country. As a Level 1 country, Indian nationals seeking entry into Singapore need to comply with mandated requisites before being allowed into the country. The following are the required actions by the Indian national before flying over to Singapore:
1) All applications from Indian nationals must be submitted to the Consular Section of the Singapore High Commission in the area where the visa applicant resides. The submission may be done in person or by post from Mondays to Fridays between 10:00 am to 12:00 noon and 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm.
2) The visa applicant from India is required to submit the following documents:
a. Visa Form 14a, signed and completed by the visa applicant;
b. One passport sized color photograph;
c. Original Indian passport with photocopies of the following pages:
i. The personal information page;
ii. The status pages from any other issued countries;
iii. Any visa endorsement for travel outside of Singapore;
iv. The Indian passport must be valid at least six months upon arrival date in the country;
d. Photocopy of the confirmed return/forward air ticket/flight itinerary where the flight numbers as well as dates of entry and exit of Singapore are clearly visible;
3) For Business Travelers. A letter from the employer stating the purpose of the visit and duration of the stay in Singapore together with Form V39A or the Letter of Introduction from the Singapore registered company to host the traveler;
4) For Employees or Retired Staff of Airlines or Travel Agents. A letter from the employer confirming that the travel is done with a return staff air ticket. The letter must further indicate the duration of the stay in Singapore and the plane ticket must also confirm the standby dates in and out of the country;
5) Further documentation must be submitted, a photocopy of the following would suffice:
a. A copy of the traveler's most recent bank statement, when the traveler is a student;
b. A letter from the college or employer indicating the status of the traveler;
c. A Letter of Introduction or Form V39A from the local sponsor in Singapore together with a copy of both front and dorsal side of the sponsor's Singapore Identity Card. Instead of the Form V39A, a confirmed hotel reservation can be submitted;
6) Payment of GBP 15.00 in cash or postal order payable to the Singapore High Commission.
Once all these documentation has been submitted to the appropriate agency, the Indian visa applicant needs to await the issuance of the visa that would be stamped on the passport before travel and entry into the island-state would be allowed.
