Not Failing When Doctors Fail

We have all heard about the concept of maternal instinct. It begins when our babies are in utero first manifesting itself with the pressing need to hold our newborn babes in our arms to cuddle and protect them. The special bonding between mother and child has already taken place. When the child is crying or seems ill, mama is the first to know and will respond with loving care.
New mothers will also be the first to admit that they don't everything. Instinct may tell us that something is amiss with our baby, but doesn't tell us how to cure the problem. This is why there are pediatricians and why they spend eight years in medical school learning their trade.
Unfortunately there are some doctors in our country who don't always stay up to date on the new technology. When a doctor stops learning it is then that they start making mistakes. And unlike accounts or chefs, their mistakes can be life altering and sometimes even fatal. Then we have to pay the penalty for their failures.
Television abounds with ads that tell you if you took a certain drug while pregnant and your child suffered birth defects to call the advertised attorney to join a class action suit. Pregnant mothers and their unborn infants are unusually vulnerable to drug side effects. Everything that enters mommy also enters unborn baby.
