It is true that accidents from driving an automobile happen more often than those involving any other form of transportation. This is not really all that surprising. There are so many things to distract a driver. There are passengers, cell phones and that mug of coffee. Pilots when flying their plane have a co-pilot right by their side so the pilot never need succumb to distraction. Drivers driving their car are on their own.
Though we all face distractions of some sort occasionally, there are some drivers that don't pay nearly as much attention to the road as they should. Police officers know that it is not all that uncommon to find drivers who have either been drinking and driving, or driving while under the influence of drugs. While laws have really cracked down on people driving while under the influence, there are still those who do it and don't think they will get caught.
Even with drivers continuing to drive under the influence, this is not the major cause of traffic accidents. Texting while driving is. Text messaging while driving is against the law in almost every state. This practice has become so prevalent that manufacturers of cell phones are putting a message like "Texting While Driving, It Can Wait" on their phones.
While it's been proven that texting while driving is worse for drivers than drinking and driving, we still see people everyday texting and not paying enough attention to the road. Often times these distracted drivers are the causes of car accidents. Because of them, we get hurt in a car accident and suddenly find ourselv
es unable to work and racking up medical faster than we ever imagined possible.
If you have ever been the victim of a car accident you know that you will very soon receive a call from an insurance adjuster. The other party's insurance company calls you to find out if you were hospitalized, how much it cost and how many weeks of work you missed. They inform you that all costs will be covered by them and will even throw in an extra $500.00 if you sign a waiver promising not to sue for further damages. Now why do they do that?
The reason is because they know that victims who hire a strong law firm to support them and fight for them often get far more money than those who don't. Often we don't realize the possible long term affects of injuries caused by car accidents. Some people can attest to their backs or necks hurting for years after being in an accident. We often think that as long as the insurance pays for our medical bills and work missed, then we got everything we deserved.
A lawyer knows that this often is not true. Many injuries prohibit us from doing simple things later down life's road. For example if a young student enrolled in a gourmet cooking school has his wrist broken in a car accident and it didn't heal properly, he may not be able to proceed with his dream career of being a gourmet chef. If this student had an attorney fighting for his rights he would have received everything he deserved in the end. If you ever find yourself suffering injuries in a car accident that was the fault of another driver, call a reputable law firm to stand by you and fight for every right you deserve. You didn't cause your injuries. Don't become more of a victim than you already are.
