The US government forced the oil giant BP, or should we say strongly suggested, that they establish a 20 billion dollar fund to handle the claims that they were expecting. The company at the time did not have that much cash on hand, and needed to borrow the vast majority of it.

After the fund was setup, BP created an organization called the Gulf Coast Claims Facility (GCCF) to handle the claims that were coming in. Since the oil spill, they have had well over 10,000 claims submitted that they needed to review. Of course, this is a tremendous amount of paperwork for any association, much less for one that has only been in operation for such a short period.

The Gulf Coast Claims Facility (GCCF) is managed by the attorneys that represent BP. Because of that, they have a very strong interest in making sure that their client does not pay out on any unnecessary BP claims. One way they are trying to make this happen, is by establishing all kinds of rules and regulations that must be followed, if you want your claim accepted.

Please remember, that getting your BP claim accepted by the GCCF, is just the first step in a very long and tedious process. Next, it needs to be approved, then in many cases, a very long and tough negotiating process will occur regarding the actual amount of the damages. Only if and
when both parties can come to an agreement on the funds that should be dispersed, will a BP claim actually be paid in full.

This is the exact reason that so many BP claims never get settled, or are totally denied all together. If you happen to be one of those that had your claim denied, or could never come to an agreement on the actual damages, it is still possible to have your paperwork redone, and still collect on your claim.

Many of the individuals and businesses in this region of the country are very poorly equipped to deal with an organization like the Gulf Coast Claims Facility (GCCF). After all, this setup is run by some of the sharpest lawyers in the world, who will do whatever is legal, to deny a BP claim.

All of that being said there are other attorneys that are just as bright as the ones employed by BP. These specialists have turned around many claims that were previously denied and collected the full amount of the claim. In addition, they have helped many people negotiate a much better settlement of their claim, than was initially offered by the Gulf Coast Claims Facility.

If your BP claim was denied, or you are not pleased with the offer that the Gulf Coast Claims Facility (GCCF) provided you, then you do have options. You should strongly consider using an expert that knows precisely how to get BP to accept and approve claims, and then later payout the correct amount on the claim.
