BP Claims Are Being Rejected At Alarming Rates

The US government forced the oil giant BP, or should we say strongly suggested, that they establish a 20 billion dollar fund to handle the claims that they were expecting. The company at the time did not have that much cash on hand, and needed to borrow the vast majority of it.
After the fund was setup, BP created an organization called the Gulf Coast Claims Facility (GCCF) to handle the claims that were coming in. Since the oil spill, they have had well over 10,000 claims submitted that they needed to review. Of course, this is a tremendous amount of paperwork for any association, much less for one that has only been in operation for such a short period.
The Gulf Coast Claims Facility (GCCF) is managed by the attorneys that represent BP.
