So many people that live in the region of the country where the Gulf oil spill occurred were dismayed when their claims against BP were denied. After all, many of them had lost their ability to survive financially, and then to take another hit like this, must have been emotionally draining.
It is very difficult for most of us to comprehend what it must be like to have lost everything that you have worked for your entire life in a matter of days. It is bad enough when a hurricane or tornado hits, because you cannot control Mother Nature. But, when something that is preventable is not done for economic reasons, it is just unimaginable.
BP is a company that operates all over the world. They are one of the major players in the oil industry. For many decades now, they have been known as a firm that cuts corners in every way possible, if it can improve their bottom line. They have the most atrocious records out of all the major oil companies when it comes to safety and polluting.
A few years ago, one of their oil refineries in Texas exploded killing quite a few of their very own workers. They have also leaked or spilled oil in virtually every country that they have ever been in. One would think that sooner or later they would get the message, and clean up their act, but they have not.
One of the reasons for this is that many coun
tries do not have tough enough laws that would force BP to payout enormous sums of money to fix their misdeeds. Another reason is, that in the undeveloped countries where they operate, they can simply bribe the local government officials, and all of their headaches just go away.
With any luck, BP will get taught a very good lesson this time, and will drastically improve their procedures. They are known to only purchase the least equipment possible, to just get the oil out of the ground, without any regard for their personnel's health, or for the local community.
When it comes to maintaining their equipment, once again, they trail the entire industry for money spent in this department. They do all of the above for one simple reason, they think that they make more money working like they do.
However, the other major oil companies all follow a very different approach, and make just as much money, if not more than BP does. The disaster relief fund that the US government forced BP to establish was 20 billion dollars. Let's all hope, that after they burn through that cash, that they start operating like a major oil company should.
If you have had your BP claim denied by the Gulf Coast Claims Facility (GCCF), please do not give up hope and think that you will never be able to collect on it. Many people in the past, and many people in the future, will collect on claims that were initially rejected by BP, and with any luck, you will be one of them.
